Can you believe it! One Whole Year!

Yes i know. A whole year has gone by and, on Friday the 27th, Grandma and Grandpa will be all done with their mission at Camp Nisquallie. It just seems like last week that we went down to the camp to check it out.
Travailing down to the camp ground...

Grandma and Granpa rebuilt and made this map of the camp ground. It's the first thing that you see when you drive into the camp.

Grandma and Grandpa own this small trailer that they use to store their food storage and washer and dryer. They're porch connects the two trailers together. Well they don't want to take it with them to Idaho, so they decided to donate it to the camp for a new Office. Grandpa decided to do some exterior work to it so that it could look a little nicer. Well he made it look just like a small log cabin. And let me tell you it is just as cute could ever be. Just see for yourself...

Well we went up to see them on Saturday. And it was a nice day. We built a fire down at the pavilion. Grandma made some Delicious Chili and we roasted hot dogs. We talked, laughed, had a great time, ate and ate and ate, and we also tried our best to hide form the smoke of the fire.

There is this myth that if you were to stick a plastic cup on a fire with water in it the cup would not catch on fire. But eventually the water would boil. So we decided to try this out. We had no plastic cups, so we tried it out with a half empty water bottle. The lid popped off, and than the bottle melted half way down. And than it split open, and than we were able to clearly see the water boil. It was actually pretty cool. I tried to get some pictures, It didn't work out all that great...

While we were there, Grandma recived a big package. On Grandma and Grandpa's Kirkland, Ohio mission they made really good friends with a couple that live down there. She would collect dolls, and decorate her house with them. Grandma says that she had them all up her staircase, and in baby carages, and on shelves, bed, couches and dressers. One of them reminded Grandma of ME when i was about two years old. And she told that. My Grandma absolutly loved that doll. Well she passes away this last year. But Grandma and Grandpa still keep in contact with him. In his Christmas letter to them he told them that he was going to send them a gift. And guess what was in the package? Well you probibly can already guess. Yes it was the doll that remeinded Grandma of me. She held would hold it exactly like she would hold me when we would watch "Cinderella" five time a day when i was two.

How much more do you think could fit?

So we have the DI truck at our church this week. Last Friday Dad and Hyram took the two back seats out of the van and than loaded it up as much as they could. I dont think they could of fit anything else in. It was that full!

There's still more to do...

So do you remember how i started a quilt? Well I finally polled it out of my bag so that i could do some more work to it. Mom helped me choose out two diffrent types of materials so that i could put on two boarders. Wednesdeay we went Joann's to pick up some batting. Last night we did the math and cut the strips out. And than today she taught me how to sew them on. Next week my Grandma and Grandpa Patteson will be all finished with their mission up at Camp Nesquallie, so they are going to come up to our house and stay here for a month before moving to Idaho, Where they can be closer to their son, and my Uncle John. Well my Grandma (actually both of them) loves to quilt. And while my Grandma is here she's going to help me put the quilt on aquilting frame and than shes going to help me sew the top half to the batting and the back. I cant wait! So far it looks really cute! (if i dont say so myself) But no truly it does. See for yourslf!...

What do ya think?

Needles, Threads and Hoops

This week Hyram, Tyra, Hanna and I are on Mid- Winter's Break. Aasha still has BCC, Mom works in the morning, and Dad works all day. So Between 9-12:30 am, us four are here alone. Hanna and Tyra one day started complaining that they just did not know what to do. So mom opened the world of needle-point to them. And they absolutely love it! Tyra just finished hers last night, its got grass and about 6 colorful flowers on it. Hanna finished one of an ice cream cone and than started a second last night. Its amazing how fast they have picked up on all this. They are so slow and steady, and they make sure to always be doing it just perfect. The end product looks absolutely gorgeous!

Hanna works diligently

Tyra is careful not to stab herself

YUMMMM! Looks good enough to eat!

Arnt they just beautiful!

LOOK AT THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Every one at school is so proud when they find something that has their name it it. Like a street in Florida that has their name, or a type of car, or a restaurant, or something like that. but i Kayla isn't exactly one of the most common names. Until this year I've never meet anyone with the name of Kayla, and i never see anything with Kayla in it unless i put it there. Or at least that was until last night at the library, i was searching through the teens book section when this book caught my eye.

(Notice how it's even spelt the same way as mine!)
I haven't started reading it yet, because i am too busy reading one of my most favoritest love stories.

(The doctor's diagnosis for April Lancaster is not good. April has a brain tumor which cannot be operated on. She's only 18, and her future is uncertain. But when she meets Mark Gianni, a 21-year-old with a passion for car racing, things change.
Mark is handsome and charming--and has cystic fibrosis. Despite herself, April falls completely in love with him. April says yes when Mark asks her to marry him. But a racing accident aggravates Mark's CF, and April must make a decision that will change the course of her life forever. In this companion to Till Death Do Us Part, grief-stricken April Lancaster is devastated by the loss of Mark Gianni, and she and her parents have gone to the island of St. Croix for an extended vacation. One day on the beach, April meets bitter, lonely 18-year-old Brandon Benedict. Brandon blames his father for his mother's recent suicide. April is still trying to come to terms with her own grief. The two get very close...but April doesn't tell Brandon about her medical problems. Then April's headaches return, and she and her parents quickly fly back to New York, leaving an angry, bewildered Brandon behind. April is dying. Can she bring herself to tell Brandon that he'll soon lose another person he loves?)
But i cant wait to start it. It sounds really good. Maybe it will make my favorite book list too. (which really hard to do)
This is the little blip about it one the back of the book...
"Kayla Dean, junior feminist and future journalist, is about to break the story of a lifetime. She is auditioning for the Lady Lions dance team to prove they discriminate against the not-so-well endowed. But when she makes the team, her best friend and fellow feminist, Rosalie, is not happy. Now a Lady Lion, Kayla is transformed from bushy-haired fashion victim to glammed-up dance diva. But does looking good and having fun mean turning her back on the cause? Can you be a strong woman and still wear really cute shoes?
Soon Kayla is forced to challenge her views, coming to terms with who she is and what girl power really means.
Narrated with sharp language and just the right amount of attitude, The Kayla Chronicles is the story of a girl's struggle for self-identity despite pressure from family, friends and her own conscience."

The Best Book Ever!

So i am like an extremely slow reader, and i am also one of the pickiest ever. The book must start out with a big wham right in the first two or three sentences, if no the first sentence. Well About a month ago, i was at the library trying to find something that looked really good. And i found this one book called, "Suite Scarlett."

It looked kind of interesting and the description of it sounded OK. Aasha a few of my friends have read her book, " 13 Little blue Envelopes"

and said that is was one of the best books ever. So i decided to try it out. The beginning starts out kind of weird, and it slowly gets weirder and weirder but in an interesting capturing Way. And than in the middle it gets really cute and very capturing. But than everything seems to get really really horrible for the main character Scarlett and her family. but than it ends OK. Not how i would of liked it too, i actually didn't care much for the ending but it ended OK. But all and all i loved this book. Yes it took me forever to read, but i loved it. The last two days i could hardly tare my eyes away from it, and every time i would finish a chapter i would either get really happy and start squealing, or get mad at one of the characters and would scream. Just ask Hyram, Tyra and Hanna, i got all of them interested. So if anyone is looking for a really good book to read, one that has a ton of action, excitement, and romance than i strongly suggest "Suite Scarlett."
This is what the flap on the inside of the book says about the book...
"When the Martins turn fifteen, they are each expected to take over the care of one of the Hopewell’s rooms. For Scarlett’s fifteenth birthday, she gets both a room called the Empire Suite, and a permanent guest named Mrs. Amberson. Scarlett doesn’t quite know what to make of this C-list starlet, world traveler, and aspiring autobiographer who wants to take over her life. Where Mrs. Amberson goes, things tend to happen.
When Scarlett meets Eric, an impossibly gorgeous actor, her summer takes a second unexpected turn. Eric has just moved to New York, and is a fellow cast member in a production of Hamlet that may just save Spencer’s career . . . if it ever makes it to the stage. Scarlett’s unsteady relationship with Eric may be best thing that’s ever happened to her, or it may undo the most important relationship in her life.
Before the summer is over, Scarlett will have to survive a whirlwind of thievery, Broadway glamour, romantic missteps, serious mishandling of unicycles, and theatrical deception. And every element and person in Scarlett’s life will converge in one night that will make or break them all . . .

The show, as they say, must always go on."

Guess What?!

As most of you know, i am 15 1/2. And i will be 16 in August. Well anyways i've been thinking about learning to drive. So i went into the counseling office to see if i could get signed up for one of the after school classes. Well there is going to be two sessions one that in 9 weeks and one that is 5 weeks. Well i got put on the waiting lists for both of them. I was #26 on the 9 week class and #15 on the 5 week one. Well yesterday i got this letter saying that i have been excepted into the 9 week course.

I am so excited! But i am also nervous. The thought of me driving...Its a little scary.

What Else is New?

This is what our old entertainment center looked like..
Our bishop has a friend who gave him a entertainemt center to give to any of the flood vicims in our ward. Well, none of them wanted it, because they didnt like the looks of it, or it was just too big. So the bishop then opend it up to any one in the ward. So last night mom and dad went over to his house to check it out. They liked it so much they decided to go ahead and buy it! My dad had to get Uncle Phil to help him get it into the house. And while trying to get it in, it look as if it wasnt going to fit. But it did. And it looks wonderful!

This is what our new Entertainment Center looks like

What do you think?

And we thought yesterday was bad!

Today was going all wonderful, until i looked out the school window on my way to History. It looked like a blizard outside. None of it was sticking, but it was still snowing. Well it wasnt sticking until i got home. Its not like we have lots of snow, it just the fact that we have snow.

The Most Weirdest Thing Happend

Shortly after Hyram, Tyra, Hanna, Aasha and Mom got home from walking from the bus stop, we were all sitting in the living room, when the weirdest thing happened. You know how in the Disney cartoons how it will be really sunny, and than you see the rain slowly swooping in, and than a total down poor. Well that like totally just happened. But it wasn't raining. It was hailing. Now it only hailed for like 3 minutes before all the the hail stooped and we got just cloudy skies, but I mean how often do you get to witness something like that in person. I only wish that i had my video camera so that i could show you how cool it was.

The front yard after the hailing stoped

It's Snowing?

This morning at 4:30 i was in my parents room straightening my hair when Aasha came in and said maybe the most depressing thing. "Kayla, In case you didn't know this, IT'S SNOWING!" Now i know for most people this isn't very depressing. Well let me give you a little background about me. I love the warm sun, i love summer, spring, i love swimming, traveling, i love bright happy summer days, and i love not being cold. So when it gets to being winter, I'm not always in the happiest mood. Because as most of you know, it rains all the time here in Washington. Well this year has been really interesting, surprisingly we haven't gotten as much rain as we usually do. We've still gotten allot, but not too much. Instead we've gotten tons of snow. So when Aasha told me this it like totally brought my day down. Now i thought that there was just like a light dusting on the ground. No, when i came out to the living room this morning, it looked like someone was dropping cotton balls down from the sky. THEY WERE HUGE! But this Inst even the worst part. So we got ready for school, left the house around 5: 45(ish) picked up Sean Quin and Lexi Mars for seminary, and made it all the way to the church building before we found out that school is 1 hour delayed today, which makes seminary canceled. so we dropped Sean and Lexi back at their homes and we too went home. Well Aasha got onto her laptop and i made Oatmeal Fudge No bake Cookies. I can only hope and pray that the snow will disappear and the sun will come back out.

Basketball

Every year our stake does YW's sports. There is Volleyball and Basketball. And every year i have never joined. But this year, one of my friends, Katy wanted to join the
basketball, but she wanted a friend to do it with her, so i told her i would. Well it turned out that after the first practice she was really tierd, and still had homework to do, so she decided that she was gonna quit because of the times that they make us play. Well i had alot of fun the first time so i decided that im goning to continue with this sport. So now im one of the tallest there and i am also the oldest YW playing.

Now lets hpe that i can keep with it and hopefuly maybe possibly get just a little better at it.

OH NO!!!!!!!!!!!

So at Mount Si every ninth grader is required to take P.E 9. So i am. And that's OK. No big deal. Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday are our sports game days. We learn a new sport every three weeks. Right now we are in our Badminton unit. And than every Tuesday and Thursday is our conditioning days. On these days we either go out side and run around the track (if the weather is OK), run around the gym, or we go into the weight room. And I'm all fine with this too. So on Thursday, we were running around the gym. We would run for 10 minutes and walk for 5. Not that hard. well i was running and talking to one of my friends, JC, and apparently i wasn't paying attention, and believe it or not, I TRIP ED OVER MY OWN FEET! All the girls around me suddenly stopped, and started asking me if i was OK, while the boys just ran right by laughing. I felt pretty stupid, but i got a good laugh out of it. Well i started running and every thing was OK. Until i got to the locker room, While changing i looked at my knee, and found i had a big bruise and an small cut.

Well i have this good friend, Jessica, and she likes to elaborate on her stories, and make them sometimes seem bigger than they really are. So i decided to do the same thing to her. so i wrote her a little email...
"...But anyways while running i tripped and fell on my face, and scraped up my knee. blood was gushing everywhere, i had to go to the nurses room and than i had to get it cleaned up. But the cut was pretty big so i called mom, and than i had to go to the emergency room, and get stitches in my knee. I have 7 stitches. Its not like getting the stitches hurt, but that was because i had to get like 3 numbing shots, but its starting to hurt now, because it wearing off. Well anyways i had to go back to school and i made it just in time for the last 15 minutes of Science. Joy i got to read my book for 15 minutes. ( you know, On Shaky Ground.) Well who would of thought that tripping in P.E while running would get you 7 stitches! i would of never. But anyways, have a good day!

Love Your wonderful stitched up friend
Kayla"

Now i tried to make this story seem a little fakey. But apparently i wasn't good enough at this. She believed it. And further more, she told her whole family! Her mom is the Relief Society President, and my mom is the first counselor. Well anyways, my mom knew nothing of this letter. And that night while checking her email she got a letter from Sister Adams asking if i was alright. The next day at 6 am at seminary, i walked in and Jessica started asking me if i was alright, and in front of all of my friends i had to tell them that I LIED! Now how embarrassing is that.

History?

I'm not sure if any of you know this but i absolutely hate history. It has always seemed to be an extremely boring class for me every since i can remember. Well this year all ninth graders are required to take World History. And right now we are learning about the wars in Europe. So we have to make a huge map! and i mean huge. (well actually its not all that huge) Ive just started it but here's a glimpse of it.

Aint it HUGE!

This is a smaller outline of what i am supposed to draw.
