On Wednesday we had our New Beginnings. The theme was "Blooming in the Gospel of Christ." (I came up with that) But the general theme was flowers. (I suggested that) What we did was each of the parents were supposed to bring a flower that they though represented their daughters (without their daughter's knowing). Katy and Jessica (two of my friends who planned this activity, took the flowers and put them in a vase creating a bouquet out of all of the flowers that the parents had brought, and than one by one that night their daughters and themselves would get up. They would give their daughters the flower and than tell everyone how this flower represented their daughters. Their was a huge variety of flowers, from cherry blossoms to blue iris's, Hawaiian flowers to daisy's and tons more different and beautiful flowers. All of us young women were so surprised with the kind of flowers that we were compared to and even more surprised with how much we are like it.
My mom and dad decided to compare me to a pink tulip. And this is what they said ...
"A tulip means Perfect Love: it is elegant and sophisticated, and very romantic. It is for the woman who enjoys beauty in its simplest form. The Tulip expresses genuine coziness and comfort in all the right ways. The Pink Tulip represents Caring. This describes Kayla, who is always thinking of others, and ways that she may lift their spirits. She accomplishes this with quiet acts of kindness, and words of love and encouragement. She is a comfort to all around her, and brings joy to many. Kayla like a gift of tulips is a sure delight, enchanting in its beauty and simplicity."
When i was hearing these words about myself I felt so much like crying. Because i never really thought of myself like that. But i cant tell you how wonderful it felt to hear this. Especially in these hard times today, when a girl tries so hard to always stay modest and truthful. Never swearing, gossiping, but always trying to be a "light unto the wold" like they teach us in church.
When we got home mom gave me two more tulips (a total of 3 tulips) with a beautiful Glass vase for them to go in. We're going to buy some marbles to fill the vase with but for now i have the vase filled with tissue paper. And than we are going to print up what mom said about me and tie it onto the flower's steam. It looks so beautiful, and i truly love it.

I LOVED listening to all the things the parents said too! Your parents were right on with that one. You are really one of the kindest, most compassionate people I know.
