What is Mother Nature Thinking?

Mother Nature must know that i really don't like the cold, and is purposely trying to annoy me with all this crazy weather that she's sending out way.
Last night before i went to bed it was sprinkling just a very little, but for the most part the weather was just cloudy and cold. This morning when i woke up, not even kidding you, 1 1/2- 2 inches of SNOW!

Crazy...Right?

The Kite Runner's

In school on Thursday Hanna made a kite. It's yellow with some very beautiful drawings of hearts,8's, circles, lines, dots, swirly swirls and polka-dots, it has a very pretty pink streamer hanging off of it, and it has a rather long string connected at on end. Hanna says that it is so long so that she can fly it high high high in the air. The weather yesterday was so beautiful. It was a little cloudy out, but the sun was trying to peak through in places. The wind was blowing very gently, and it was around the high 50's low 60's.
w
Perfect kite flying weather!

First Hanna and Tyra had to the kites tail...

And than Hanna let Tyra try out her Kite first, because Tyra's piano teacher was going to be showing up at our house soon.

As you can see by the expression on her face, she was obviously having a wonderful time, playing with it.

Tyra has a little bit of trouble getting it started...

After running around the yard two or three times, she let Hanna try it out.

Hanna has fun running in front of the window showing off her kite to mom and Aasha.

Who would of ever known that a paper kite would ever be so much fun. But it was and kept Hanna and Tyra laughing and having a blast together.

Mom's Birthday!

Last Monday night we had a Small birthday dinner here at home for mom. (even though her birthday was Sunday) We did it so early because Grandma and Grandpa wanted to be here to celebrate it, and they left on Saturday Morning. And because it was the only night that week that Aasha was going to be home early. (The rest of the nights she was out late practicing the play in Bellview.) Grandma made a ham, with some potato's, dad made a green salad, we had some veggies, and i made some homemade rolls. Than for dessert we had Angle Food cake with strawberries, whipped cream, and this sweet strawberry sauce on top of it. We were all so stuffed afterwords that it almost hurt to walk. Grandma gave her these flowers...

With this balloon...

On Sunday we had another small birthday dinner, with Lillie, Russell, Marissa, Alicia and Cheyanne. We had pork chops, baked potato's, green salad and some fruit stuff. For dessert i made her a Lazy Daisy Cake, but after i cooked it i realized that it most likely wouldn't be enough (even though i doubled the recipe) and that most people wouldn't want it. (You see it had coconut in the glaze and nuts on top of half of the cake.) So i decided to made a Devil's Food Cake. But we didn't have any chocolate, so i just didn't add any. The cake was a Vanilla Devil's Food Cake, with blue Wedding Cake Frosting on top of it. Both cakes were very good, and finished up very fast.
HAPPY 40TH BIRTHDAY MOM! WE ALL LOVE YOU SO MUCH! THANKS FOR ALL THAT YOU DO FOR US!

Oh What a Night

On Friday the 20th, the Bellview Washington South Stake opened their play "The Music Man" with much success., after many months of preparations.

"Wow! The whole thing was amazing. I absolutely loved the dancing and singing!" Said one viewer, While other's were simply speechless after such an event. How ever with all of its fame and glory, filling the gym with viewers and reaching all the way back into the chapel, their were some problems with hearing, and seeing. There was a shortage in microphones but surly there was not a shortage in laughter.
While Marian the Librarian and Professor Harold Hill were simply wonderful and filled the atmosphere with their amazing voices and personalities, Bertha Smith, played by Aasha Morrill brought so much more splendor.
Aasha prepares for the big event...

OOH! Look at those curls!

She brought a feeling of welcomeness and happiness. Two thumbs up and 10 stars! Great job to all who participated in this event.

Tyra Goes to a Fashion Show

Last Saturday morning at 10 o'clock Tyra was went to a "Fashion Show!" It was really one of her friends from Church, Melanie Franklin's 9th Birthday Party. The theme was "FASHION!" Every girl that was invited had to dress up and than they had some fun "FASHION" games. Tyra dressed up as a princess wearing her yellow dress. (The dress is really her old Little Bo Peep Halloween costume) Mom curled her hair and she borrowed Aasha's princess tiara. She wore make up and many many beads. She looked so grown up and beautiful!

New Beginnings

On Wednesday we had our New Beginnings. The theme was "Blooming in the Gospel of Christ." (I came up with that) But the general theme was flowers. (I suggested that) What we did was each of the parents were supposed to bring a flower that they though represented their daughters (without their daughter's knowing). Katy and Jessica (two of my friends who planned this activity, took the flowers and put them in a vase creating a bouquet out of all of the flowers that the parents had brought, and than one by one that night their daughters and themselves would get up. They would give their daughters the flower and than tell everyone how this flower represented their daughters. Their was a huge variety of flowers, from cherry blossoms to blue iris's, Hawaiian flowers to daisy's and tons more different and beautiful flowers. All of us young women were so surprised with the kind of flowers that we were compared to and even more surprised with how much we are like it.
My mom and dad decided to compare me to a pink tulip. And this is what they said ...
"A tulip means Perfect Love: it is elegant and sophisticated, and very romantic. It is for the woman who enjoys beauty in its simplest form. The Tulip expresses genuine coziness and comfort in all the right ways. The Pink Tulip represents Caring. This describes Kayla, who is always thinking of others, and ways that she may lift their spirits. She accomplishes this with quiet acts of kindness, and words of love and encouragement. She is a comfort to all around her, and brings joy to many. Kayla like a gift of tulips is a sure delight, enchanting in its beauty and simplicity."

When i was hearing these words about myself I felt so much like crying. Because i never really thought of myself like that. But i cant tell you how wonderful it felt to hear this. Especially in these hard times today, when a girl tries so hard to always stay modest and truthful. Never swearing, gossiping, but always trying to be a "light unto the wold" like they teach us in church.
When we got home mom gave me two more tulips (a total of 3 tulips) with a beautiful Glass vase for them to go in. We're going to buy some marbles to fill the vase with but for now i have the vase filled with tissue paper. And than we are going to print up what mom said about me and tie it onto the flower's steam. It looks so beautiful, and i truly love it.

Ain't It Just Simply Pertty?

Do you remember how i said earlier that my mom and dad were putting my Grandpa Patteson to work on our house while he was up here. Well they have just assigned him another project. Monday he put up new trimming around Hyram's bedroom door. (Which looks really pertty!) And now he is making the doorways into the dinning room and the kitchen smaller (he's also getting rid of our rounded corners and just making them regular corners...YES!), and adding trimming around the door frames and the brick that is behind the fireplace. It looks WONDERFUL! And he's only about half way done. I can't believe the difference in the looks of our living room already.

So this morning at 5 am i was so tiered and not quit thinking that straight. Well i'm not quite used to the new size of the entrance way from the living room to the kitchen, and i walked right into it.

It turns out that Hyram did the same thing. And Mom said that she was so used to just reaching around the corner and flipping on the kitchen light. Well today when she did that she had to reach a little farther that she expected to. I guess this new change is going to take a little more getting used to than we thought. Ha Ha Ha Ha, who would of ever thought that making your entrance way just 3 inches smaller would have such an impact.

Ring-A-Ling-A-Ling

Guess What?!
On Saturday my parents decided to surprise us with a brand new telephone. It is so light, and works wonderfully. (Or as wonderfuly as a phone can work) We love it!

New Back Porch

Allot you already know that my Grandpa Patteson loves to work with wood. And that he and my Grandma are staying with us right now. Well mom and dad have decided to fill up all of his time with little things. Like new plumbing, trimming and building a new back porch. Mom, Dad and Grandpa all sat down together one night looking at millions of different ideas for railings and stairs. They all worked together to come up with a nice simple idea, draw it out and come up with a price estimate. Than the next morning Dad and grandpa went down to the hardware store to buy the supplies. While Hyram stayed home tarring the back steps apart. I'm not even kidding you it took him less than five minutes to do that. He had a blast doing that. That afternoon Grandpa and Hyram started to build it. And than every day while we were all at school and work Grandpa would come up to our house and work on it a little. It took him about three days to finish it, but it looks absolutely gorgeous.

Grandpa finished just before the snow came, but the day after (Thursday) it got covered in snow, as you can see.
This Finished Product...

What do you think?

Crazy Weather

As most of you have already heard, last Thursday we got an unexpected snow. Now it didnt just snow a little and than melt the next day. No. It has snowed every day scince. We now have about 3-5 inches. And its still snowing!

I cant wait till summer...
