Mormon Battalion Association Essay Contest

About a month an a half ago in seminary they announced a writing contest that the Mormon Battalion Association in Salt Lake, Utah is doing. (they do it every year) The point of it was to write an essay between 2,500-5,000 words about the Mormon Battalion. Well i just thought it would be fun to do, and maybe i would learn something out of it. So i did it, with a TON of help from my mom, dad and Grandma Morrill, and then submitted it. Well today my mom opened up her email and we got an email from the guy in charge of the contest. He told me that my essay was read in front of 12 judges and was placed as one of the top 9 essay's. It was then read again in front of 12 more judges and...Guess what? I placed THIRD! I never thought that i could do it, but i am so excited. But i just want to thank my parents and my Grandma for all of the wonderful help that they gave to me, and for the support that they gave through out it all.

Last Sunday we woke up to seeing a gigantic moth on the railing of our back porch. It was so beautiful. It was kind of a reddish brownish color with HUGE wings. I mean the thing was almost as big as my hand!!!!!!!!!!!!

Have you ever seen anything as big as this thing?

"Ever since i can remember my mother has made the Gospel a very strong part in my life. She would pray with me as a child and would make reading the scriptures a very fun. I love my mother so very much and I don't think i can ever tell her how much i love her and thank her for all that she does for me. But Mom i just want you to know that your the best and I love you so so so very much!"

This morning i just could not sleep. So i got up around 6:20-6:30(ish). I cleaned up the kitchen and than i started to make some breakfast for my mom. I made pop-overs. And then decided to try some French Bread Breakfast muffins. (They are supposed to be like a French breakfast donut but its a muffin) Well i didn't read the instructions and accidentally added the Cinnamon butter and 1 other ingredient that i forgot what it was. Those three ingredients were supposed to be added after it was cooked. But i cooked it in the muffin. In the end they turned out really flat but supper good! (Thankfully) I also made some scrambled eggs with chess on top and some sausages, but i accidentally burned some of them. Than i whipped up some orange juice and Aasha made some Hot Chocolate. We had the table all set with flowers and everything. And than after breakfast we quickly cleaned the dishes and than went for a walk. After that we got ready for church. I had a blast curling Hanna's hair and putting it in the cutest bun you have ever seen. She looks so adorable.

And than i helped curl Aasha's Hair and i put it in a adorable pony-tail. And helped her choose a shirt and some jewelry and shoes. Than Aasha let me borrow her black and blue super beautiful dress and helped me choose a hair style. Right now dad is barbecuing and i made a fruit salad, and in like 10 min we are going down to Phil and Nancy's to join them for a wonderful Mother's day dinner.
