Mormon Battalion Association Essay Contest

About a month an a half ago in seminary they announced a writing contest that the Mormon Battalion Association in Salt Lake, Utah is doing. (they do it every year) The point of it was to write an essay between 2,500-5,000 words about the Mormon Battalion. Well i just thought it would be fun to do, and maybe i would learn something out of it. So i did it, with a TON of help from my mom, dad and Grandma Morrill, and then submitted it. Well today my mom opened up her email and we got an email from the guy in charge of the contest. He told me that my essay was read in front of 12 judges and was placed as one of the top 9 essay's. It was then read again in front of 12 more judges and...Guess what? I placed THIRD! I never thought that i could do it, but i am so excited. But i just want to thank my parents and my Grandma for all of the wonderful help that they gave to me, and for the support that they gave through out it all.

Congratulations!!! You don't know me but I have "Google Alert" for the Mormon Battalion and when something new comes up it sends me the link. My husband is big in the Morman Battalion here in Mesa, AZ and regularly presents their neckerchief slide and patch to boys who become Eagle Scouts and have participated on activities and service on the part of the Mormon Battalion trail that passes through Arizona. So, I've heard a lot about it and even wrote an article about them for the Arizona Beehive Newspaper.

Fun Stuff. Again, congratulations!

That is awesome!!! How huge. I bet so many people from all over the country turned in essays for that, and to place third is phenomenal!! Oooo. You could put that on resumes! (o:

By the way, thanks for going running with me this morning! That was a lot more fun than going by myself, and you are always great company!
